Streetohome releases Want2 app to help people navigate homelessness supports in Vancouver

Many individuals know what they’d like to focus on to improve their situations, but don’t know how to start or what supports are available to help them. Streetohome has developed a mobile and web app to build on the success of the original Life Intentions Action Planner paper tool, which helps individuals navigate Vancouver-based, free supports while reducing the stigma associated with homelessness.

Coast Capital Savings contributes $100,000 to youth support recovery homes

Streetohome Foundation is pleased to announce a $100,000 financial contribution from Coast Capital Savings in support of youth at risk of homelessness. The generous gift is designated towards two youth recovery homes run by Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS), Sequoia House and Alder House, in the City of Vancouver. The new homes will help prevent homelessness among youth, as well as support and empower youth on their journey to addiction recovery and independence.

Streetohome Foundation Provides Supportive Housing for People Coping with Mental Illness

Today Streetohome Foundation officially opened its first newly developed building as part of its campaign to break the cycle of homelessness in Vancouver. In partnership with the City of Vancouver and the Province of B.C., Streetohome is helping build over 1,100 new homes for those in need. For this particular building, Streetohome Foundation and its supporters provided approximately $1.24 million towards the cost of the building.

Streetohome Foundation Receives $100,000 from Pacific Blue Cross for Supportive Housing for Homeless People with Mental Illness and Addictions

Today Streetohome Foundation is pleased to announce a $100,000 contribution from Pacific Blue Cross’ Community Connection Health Foundation in support of its capital campaign to break the cycle of homelessness in Vancouver. This generous donation will support the development of 147 supportive housing units located at 215 West 2nd Avenue in Vancouver. The building, developed in partnership between Streetohome Foundation, the Province of B.C., and the City of Vancouver, will support individuals who are dealing with mental health and addictions issues, and also people who have been chronically homeless.

Streetohome Foundation Receives $366,000 from Radcliffe Foundation to Support Vancouver’s First Rent Bank

Today Streetohome Foundation announced a $366,000 contribution from Radcliffe Foundation to cover the loan portion of Vancouver’s first rent bank, a project that will provide a cost-effective solution to preventing homelessness caused by short-term financial reasons such as the inability to pay the next month’s rent or utility cut-off due to overdue bills. Streetohome’s funding partners, who will pay the operating costs of the Rent Bank, include the Vancouver Foundation and the City of Vancouver. The funds will be managed and administered by Network of Inner City Community Services Society (NICCSS). Other partners include UBC Department of Economics, BC Hydro Power Smart, and Vancity.
