Demonstration Site Collaborative

12 organizations across BC have expressed their interest in implementing the Adapted Therapeutic Community model in their community in order to provide enhanced service delivery and recovery outcomes for those who may be struggling with homelessness, substance use, mental health challenges, and/or a propensity to commit crimes to support their precarious lives. An ATC Demonstration Site Collaborative was created to provide a collective opportunity for real time, shared learning between organizations implementing the ATC model. Member organizations are basing their program planning on a book club discussion of the ‘how to’ manual (The Theory and Practice of Democratic Therapeutic Community Treatment by Drs. Steve Pearce and Rex Haigh). All demonstration sites will connect regularly over bi-weekly Zoom calls to relay successes, challenges and lessons learned. They will also be coached in monthly reflective meetings with the international faculty. These efforts will provide an early local knowledge base on Adapted Therapeutic Communities.
