Coast Capital Savings contributes $100,000 to youth support recovery homes

Streetohome Foundation is pleased to announce a $100,000 financial contribution from Coast Capital Savings in support of youth at risk of homelessness. The generous gift is designated towards two youth recovery homes run by Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS), Sequoia House and Alder House, in the City of Vancouver. The new homes will help prevent homelessness among youth, as well as support and empower youth on their journey to addiction recovery and independence.

Q&A: Sherri Magee, Streetohome Board Member

Dr. Sherri Magee joined the Streetohome Board in 2017.  Sherri is currently the Vice Chair of the Vancouver Police Board and serves on the 58. W. Hastings Advisory Board which is building a medical facility and social housing in the DTES. Sherri has served as a board member on the World President’s Organization and Perceptronix Medical Inc. In addition to serving on the Streetohome Board, Sherri is the Co-Chair of Streetohome’s Research, Reporting & Data Committee.

Leading-edge mental health and addictions care model launches at St. Paul’s Hospital

Access to health care services can mean the difference between life and death.  That’s something Dalton Burgess can attest to. He credits the Rapid Access Addiction Clinic (RAAC) at St. Paul’s Hospital with saving his life. Before getting treated there, Burgess struggled with extreme opioid abuse for years. During a period of abstinence, he earned a business degree, built a career, got married, had a son, and bought a house. But the cycle of addiction, relapse and recovery continued.

Pacifica Treatment Centre Race for Recovery Fun Run 2018

Come and support the Pacifica Treatment Centre in their first annual Fun Run. Encouraging healthy connections and physical activity as a part of a wholesome recovery, the 5 km and 1 km runs will take place at Trout Lake August 12, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Fun Run will mark the centre’s 41st anniversary as a BC treatment centre, and will be followed by live music and a BBQ picnic in the park.

St. Paul’s The HUB

Streetohome is partnering with St Paul’s Hospital to build a space – the ‘HUB’ – that includes 10 clinical treatment spaces and a transitional centre including common lounge, kitchen, overnight accommodation with bathroom and shower facilities for eight individuals. The HUB will serve those living with severe addictions and mental health issues.
