Streetohome Foundation is proud to announce the support of River District Vancouver, a development by ParkLane Homes, towards its $26.5 million capital campaign to help solve homelessness in Vancouver.

“We are proud to support the important work that Streetohome is doing,” said Peeter Wesik, President of ParkLane Homes. “Homelessness is an issue that affects all of us, and River District Vancouver is pleased to support Streetohome in their efforts.”

One of River District Vancouver’s guiding principles is to be a responsible community partner both in the City of Vancouver and the surrounding community.

River District Vancouver’s $120,000 donation will help Streetohome Foundation in its efforts to provide stable and supported housing for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessless.

To date, Streetohome Foundation has raised more than 70 percent of its capital campaign goal through the generosity of individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations. These funds will support a number of projects including:

• Close to 1,000 housing units on eight sites donated by the City of Vancouver and developed by the Province.
• Up to 20 units of housing and support services for single mothers at YWCA Cause We Care House
• 12 units of housing for young women at risk of homelessness at Atira’s Imouto House

“We are delighted that ParkLane Homes, through River District Vancouver, has committed support to helping develop new, permanent solutions to homelessness in our city,” said Dick Vollet, President of Streetohome Foundation. “It is a great tribute to the work in our community around solving homelessness to receive this contribution from a member of the housing development community.”

About River District
River District Vancouver is a new residential mixed-use community being developed by ParkLane Homes on a 130 acre former industrial site located in southeast Vancouver on the Fraser River. The River District development features a well-planned mix of townhomes, low- and mid-rise apartments and high-rise towers, including 20% of units contributed as Affordable Housing as described in its Official Development Plan. The future phases of the community will also include shops, a grocery store and neighbourhood retail, a community plaza, two new schools, a community centre, park space and a waterfront pier.
