Individuals dealing with addictions issues often have difficulty finding appropriate housing solutions. In partnership with RainCity Housing and Support Society, Sanford Housing Society, the Province of BC and the City of Vancouver, Streetohome committed $20 million to develop eight city sites, including the 147 unit Marguerite ford apartments at West 2nd Ave.
Up to half of the units are dedicated to those living with mental health or substance abuse issues. Residents receive community medical and mental health services; referrals to community based resources and services; peer support programming that includes recreational activities; and skills to build relationships with other tenants and help them maintain their tenancy.
In addition, residents in the early stages of substance abuse recovery receive enhanced support from Vancouver Coastal Health, and connection to community treatment services.
