Learn about the Adapted Therapeutic Community model and a future training opportunity with a free webinar!

BCARA is hosting a free, interactive webinar with international faculty on February 13th from 8:00 am – 9:30 am PST. You will learn more about the Adapted Therapeutic Community model and a future ATC Facilitator Training opportunity.

The Adapted Therapeutic Communities (ATC) model is based on the success and underlying principles of residential-based Therapeutic Communities such as those in Portugal, Delancey Street in the U.S., and San Patrignano in Italy. In contrast, ATCs are operated as day programs so that individuals with employment, family, and community responsibilities (hence unable to leave their community and live in residence elsewhere) can benefit from the model.

Learn how to create ‘Community as Method’ to empower groups of people to help each other achieve their goals – whether it is pursuing a life free of crime and/or substance use, recovering from a mental health challenge, or simply seeking personal improvement. You will learn how to promote six core elements including a safe and welcoming space, personal agency, a sense of belonging, individual accountability, and mutual concern.

ATC Facilitator Training is coming to BC in September 2023. This training is suitable for support workers, peer workers, counsellors, psychologists, physicians, clergy, Elders, volunteers, nurses, social workers – anyone interested in implementing an Adapted Therapeutic Community.
