In a city where the challenges of homelessness, mental health, and addiction can feel overwhelming, it’s easy to assume that nothing’s working. But while the headlines focus on the crises, there’s another story playing out in the background – one that’s quieter, but no less powerful.
Since 2008, Streetohome Foundation has been working behind the scenes to do things differently – not just by adding beds or launching one-off programs, we’re trying to help address the systemic gaps – by backing smart, scalable models and bringing unlikely partners to the same table.
What sets us apart? We work in the spaces in-between the sectors, systems, and solutions – the spaces which are often the hardest places to navigate – but they’re also where meaningful change takes root.
We’ve built trust across sectors – public, private, and non-profit by focusing on what works. That means supporting proven programs, adapting successful models from other cities, and piloting bold ideas that others aren’t set up to try.
You won’t always see our name in lights. But if you look closely at the innovative housing models being tested in Vancouver – the ones that support not just shelter, but dignity, purpose, and connection – essentially all the unmet needs – you’ll find Streetohome quietly in the mix.
We believe lasting change doesn’t come from doing more of the same. It comes from doing the right things, together. Get an overview of our journey and our current plans here.
