eptember is more than the turning of seasons – it’s National Recovery Awareness Month, a time to honour hope, healing, community; to dismantle stigma, and to recognize that recovery is not just possible, it’s happening in our neighbourhoods every day.

Like most things in life, recovery isn’t a straight path. It’s filled with setbacks, small wins, and breakthroughs that deserve to be seen. Most importantly, it thrives in community. That’s why spaces like Recovery Café Vancouver matter so deeply.

Since 2021, the Café has been more than a place to gather over sips of coffee – it’s been a sanctuary of hope and accountability. Members share meals around common tables, sit in recovery circles where honesty is met with compassion, and take steps – sometimes small, sometimes bold, intentionally toward the lives they want to build.

Recovery Café’s model demonstrates the power of recovery-oriented communities. By combining practical support with deep human connection, it helps members sustain long-term recovery and achieve milestones they once thought were out of reach.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating: 3 Years of Recovery Café Vancouver

This month, as we reflect on the meaning of recovery, we’re also celebrating a milestone that embodies it: Recovery Café Vancouver’s 3-year anniversary. It’s not just about time passed, it’s about the lives rebuilt, the friendships formed, and the resilience that keeps growing stronger every day.

This celebration will honour the courage of members, the dedication of staff and volunteers, and the strength of a community that believes in the possibility of recovery for everyone. Streetohome is proud to support this journey, helping ensure that programs like Recovery Café continue to transform lives. You’re invited to mark this moment with us:

  • Date: Wednesday, September 24th
  • Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm (with a member panel at 1:30 pm)
  • Location: 620 Clark Drive

Come hear members share their journeys, celebrate recovery in community, and witness the power of what happens when stigma is replaced with belonging. Together, we’ll look back at what’s been achieved and forward to all that’s still possible.
