Streetohome is partnering with Atira Women’s Resource Society to develop Olivia Skye (41 East Hastings), a 198 unit mixed-income building in the Downtown Eastside. This development will have market rentals, rent geared to income units (maximum rent 30% of income), and supportive housing all under one roof. Streetohome’s funding will go towards the 52 supportive housing units for women-led couples who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
This is an innovative and cost effective supportive housing model that involves public and private partnerships. Support service staffing costs are subsidized by market and rent geared to income units, thereby eliminating the need for operational funding by government. Atira will expand their support service partnership model that involves a network of outside providers supporting tenants in the building.
Streetohome’s commitment to Olivia Skye is $1,040,000, with the Carraresi Foundation generously contributing $640,000, and the MariaMarina Foundation contributing $400,000.
