Today, Jacqui Cohen, President of Face the World Foundation, announced a major donation to Streetohome Foundation’s capital campaign.
“On behalf of the directors of Face the World Foundation, I am pleased to donate $500,000.00 to the Streetohome Foundation. This will assist them in building the more than 1000 homes for British Columbians who now cannot find a safe, permanent place for themselves and their families to live and are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless,” said Cohen.
Streetohome Foundation has created a 10-Year Plan to break the cycle of homelessness. It will prioritize permanent, supported homes, and anticipate who is vulnerable. It has reached out to motivate community involvement – and that is how the Face The World Foundation found a connection.
Face the World Foundation recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. For two decades the Foundation has raised millions of dollars and donated them to organizations serving the vulnerable in Vancouver.
Cohen said that the shared goals of Face the World Foundation and Streetohome made for a good match in putting monies raised this year to good use.
“As a businesswoman who spends much of every day in the Downtown Eastside, I know how desperate many are for a secure, affordable roof over their heads. It makes sense for all of us to do as much as we can to help, create safe, supported housing in Vancouver,” declared Cohen.
